Description
Our external roller burnishing tool was specifically developed for the precision machining of cylindrical shafts. The machining diameter can be precisely adjusted in the micrometer range. We offer suitable tools for machining smooth and stepped shafts. Smooth shafts can be machined with both self-feed and machine feed. Stepped shafts, however, can only be machined with machine feed.
Tool structure
The compact design of our WAW type roller burnishing tools consists of a tool body and a roller burnishing head. The mechanism for precise adjustment of the machining diameter is located within the tool body. Cage, rollers, and cone are wear parts and can be easily replaced. As a machine interface, we offer cylindrical tool shanks, Morse tapers, or other special designs upon request. The machining depth of the tools is between 75mm – 115mm in the standard version. If this is not sufficient, we can offer cylindrical holders with a through-hole.
Machining
Machining metallic workpieces with a tensile strength of up to 1,400 N/mm² and a hardness of maximum 45 HRC is no problem for our external roller burnishing tools. Depending on the conditions, you can either rotate the workpiece or the tool, thereby performing the machining on conventional CNC machines as well as machining centers, lathes, and milling machines.
